Kyle Chrisman
(a.k.a. BigTxBass)

Unlike most folks, I grew up poor in the inner city of Houston, TX.  I think my grandmother was responsible for the infamous fishing bug but I've been fishing since I was 5 or 6 so I really am not sure I can pin point one or more specific people.  With no freshwater lakes around and no boat, my first experiences were during the summers with my grandmother bobber fishing at Sam Houston State Park in Huntsville, TX and wade fishing the Gulf Coast from Texas City to Padre Island with my dad and 2 brothers.

First quality bass I caught was on Lake Lafeyette, in Columbus, TX and after that I pretty much stopped coastal fishing.  I bought my first boat which is a Lowe FM165 in September of 2007 and have been fishing 2-5 times a week ever since.  I have learned there is a big difference between fishing from the bank and fishing from a boat.  And I love helping bank beaters that have never or rarely fished from a boat get that opportunity because I know 98% of the market is catered to fisherman with boats or who have friends with boats.

I have aspirations of growing Pro by my 35th birthday in 2013 or sooner if that happens.  Until then I'm exploring every aspect of the fishing industry and continually improving my knowledge and experience.  The primary species I fish for are Largemouth Bass, but I also enjoy fishing for Sand Bass and the occasional crappie.  My website, www.elyktricbass.com, has been setup to benchmark and track my experiences as well as offer advice, fishing reports, and other such information to the fishing world.  Like being a moderator for Texas Best Fishing, my website is an attempt to give back to an industry that has provided me with so much and kept a young, inner city kid out of a world of trouble.

My wife and I now live in Aubrey, TX and fish Ray Roberts Lake as my home lake.  However, I have also added Lake Bonham and Moss Lake in Gainesville to my lake rotation.  My goal is to learn all I can, experience all I can and take all I can.  Then cultivate it, make it mine and give it back.  I am currently mentoring an 11 year old boy named Ryan in what it means to be a real man and making sure he has the chance to experience a life of awe, wisdom, and courage.  Mentoring Ryan has been one of the MOST rewarding experiences of my life and I am so proud of him.

I fish monthly tournaments with the McKinney Bass Club and any others I can afford to attend to improve my experience and fishing resume.
